Welcome from Mr Maher
I am writing this at the end of my first full day at Nash Mills. It has been great to finally meet the children and to be able to see the school in action. The world has been a very odd and sometimes a very challenging place during the last 6 months; it is a real testament to our families that the children have been able to come back into school so well-prepared and ready to learn.
I have a young family, with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old, and know how challenging it has been keeping everything ticking along. It has really helped me to appreciate the quiet time I get when I walk the dog before and after school each day!
Before working at Nash Mills, I have taught in the local area for a number of years. I have been the Deputy Head at Micklem for the last 5 years and, prior to this, worked at Chambersbury. It has been really nice to see some familiar faces today; parents and carers I know from my Chambersbury days!
In time, I look forward to meeting more of you and I hope this happens soon!
This morning, each class were able to ask me some questions that they had prepared. Here are a few:
What is your favourite food? Pizza - something with meat on like pepperoni.
What would your favourite pudding be? Definitely ice-cream!
Do you have any pets? Yes, I have a black Labrador called Marley who is very bouncy!
Do your children go to school? My little boy starts in a school nursery tomorrow!
How long have you been a Headteacher for? Officially since Tuesday! (although I was in for most of the holidays). However I have been a Deputy Headteacher for the past 5 years and had a number of other roles in schools before then.
What has been your favourite holiday? For our honeymoon, my wife and I travelled down the west coast of America in an open-topped sports car. It was fantastic!
What is your favourite football team? I love Liverpool (and was very happy that we got to the end of this year's Premier League season!!
