Christian Distinctiveness and SIAMS

We are a family.  As a Church of England school, we are proud to have close links to our local church community and the Diocese of St Albans.  In practice, our special Christian Distinctiveness means that we are able to support all of our pupils to flourish in a supportive and respectful community.

Some of our families are of Christian faith, however many are not.  We see this as incredibly valuable; through sharing our different views, beliefs and opinions we are able to truly come together as a community.  Pupils are supported to reflect upon their feelings and are supported to best demonstrate our school’s vision and values.

We are a family, defined by our core Christian values; Wisdom, Hope, Dignity, Forgiveness and Community. Every member of our school is supported in love to flourish as unique human beings, made in God’s image.  Together, we navigate life’s journey in the safety of love and with compassion for others. This is underpinned by the story of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10, 25:37)

In order to support our evaluation of how effective we are as a church school, Nash Mills is subject to a SIAMS inspection every four years.  Our current self-evaluation for SIAMS and our previous inspection report can be seen below.

Our theologically rooted vision was developed through much thought and reflection about what makes Nash Mills a special community to be a part of.  Our original title deed stated that the school was for the provision of education to the children of local mill workers.  This local focus remains very much part of our school today.  We recognise that our community represents a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences and we aim to ensure that all feel welcome, safe and supported all the time.

Through our vision, which is based on the parable of The Good Samaritan, we support all members of the school community to have compassion for those around them, showing love, understanding and empathy.  Our community is supported to help those around them, not passing by.

We do this through a number of different focus areas, which you can see below.  Click on each to find out a little more about our work.
